Ballynahow is a rare round castle standing at five storeys tall. Built in the early 16th century, it is surprisingly well preserved. Look for the murder hole in the roof doorway. Defenders of the castle would hide above the entrance and throw items such as rocks or pour substances like boiling oil over attackers as they tried to break in.
