At the end of the Ice Age, when today's Leucht was just an unvegetated end moraine of sand and gravel, strong westerly winds blew the loose sand away. As a result, a shifting dune running in a north-south direction was formed on the plateau, and we are standing here in front of the approximately 1.5 m high edge. Since in the following millennia the vegetation protected against further drifting, we can stand in amazement in front of it today.
