The Abbey Gardens were founded in the 19th century and feature a huge lavish collection of plants from every Mediterranean climate zone. It's been described as Kew Gardens but without the need for glass.

Paid entry but absolutely worth an hour or two wondering around. Look out for red squirrels and golden pheasants.
