Partisan Way of the Cross - V Station

In the Jubilee year of Christianity, on October 28, 2000, for the first time, scouts from the ZHP Starachowice troop organized the "Stations of the Cross" service in Wykus. The stations of the Way of the Cross were situated next to the partisan graves, scattered around the "Wykus" hill in the Siekierno forest. Soldiers of the Home Army Partisan Groups "Ponury" were buried there, who died on October 28, 1943 in the third raid organized by the Germans on the units of lieutenant Jan Piwnik.

The idea of creating the Partisan Way of the Cross was born among veterans and scouts from Starachowice. In agreement with the Świętokrzyskie Grouping Partisan Groups of the Home Army "Ponury" - "Nurt", its organization was taken over by scouts from the 2nd Scout Team. Gen. Marian Langiewicz and the 17th Scout Team. Ludmiła Stefanowska "Zjawa". The young generation of scouts joined the organizations and associations that took over the baton in the relay race of generations.

The guerrilla Way of the Cross leads through the battlefields and graves of the soldiers of "Ponury" and "Nurt" in Wykus. The scouts agreed with the Suchedniów Forestry Inspectorate on the yellow and white forest trail and the stations of the Partisan Way of the Cross, at which more shrines were hung.

The last one was placed at the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in the bay clearing. Every year, all participants arrive there: scout and school youth, residents of nearby towns, veterans of the Home Army and those who are close to Wykus and the traditions associated with it. Youth and scouts have the opportunity to meet and talk to veterans, authentic witnesses and participants of World War II.
