The deserted village of Stöckerode is located in a beautiful valley almost 1.5 km east of Niedergude in the middle section of the Stückeroder Grund. The site of the church was localized on the spur, the actual village site was probably below near the Roßbach. The first mention goes back to the year 1356. The lost town of Stöckerode is regarded as the ancestral home of the Stückrad family.
