The first church was founded in this place probably already in the 13th century. The current building was built in the 1980s as a post-modernist reconstruction of a church which, serving as an ammunition depot, was blown up by the retreating Wehrmacht troops and completely destroyed. During the reconstruction, the early Gothic character of the body was preserved, a dozen or so surviving historic elements were placed in the lapidarium. In front of the entrance, the inscription Alba Ecclesia was paved with the Latin, traditional name of the place and the year 1264.
