"Acquired for a symbolic franc, the land located on the territory of the commune of Signes at a place called "Vallon des Martyrs" became, in 1996, a national necropolis. Inaugurated on June 25 of the same year in the presence of the Minister Delegate for veterans and war victims, it pays homage to the 38 resistance fighters executed on this site in July-August 1944. Covering an area of 54 ares, this necropolis does not strictly speaking contain bodies, but an ossuary as well as 38 commemorative stones. individual."
