The archaeological site of Palaipafos (Greek 'ancient Paphos') is located near the village of Kouklia. Palaipafos was once one of the most important city-kingdoms of Cyprus and the first Cypriot site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980.

The museum, which is located in a Lusignan mansion, shows, in addition to the exhibitions of many interesting finds from the region, how the cult of the goddess of fertility became the cult of Aphrodite. The raw cane sugar refinery is also open to visitors for viewing.

The site is part of the Aphrodite Cultural Route.
