Beautiful lagoon that can be explored on a circular path, partly over wooden walkways. During our visit today we were able to observe numerous ducks, seagulls and herons. In addition, there seems to be a fairly high fish population here.

Hiking

The Lagoa dos Salgados is a unique biotope that attracts thousands of bird watchers to the Algarve every year. According to the EU Habitats Directive, the lagoon in the coastal area is considered a “natural and semi-natural habitat of community interest” and special protection areas should be designated for its preservation. The same applies to the fixed coastal dunes with herbaceous vegetation (grey dunes), which, according to Portuguese legislation, must be protected as the habitat and feeding area of various species.
