Location: Mariasdorf, Bezirk Oberwart, Burgenland, Austria
At the entrance to the town there is a mine tunnel (reconstructed) on the right. Mariasdorf used to be a mining region (iron, copper and pyrite mining). Lignite mining began in Tauchen in 1848, which was discontinued in 1967. Today the formerly independent communities of Bergwerk, Grodnau, Neustift and Tauch are part of the greater Mariasdorf community.
