The western ascent is usually overcrowded, since the official signage points the way. If you want to enjoy the fantastic impressions of the volcano "alone", take the east side, which is only a few meters longer.

Hiking

I went up the west side and back the east side early in the morning. I would recommend that to everyone. The main route wasn't that full yet. What changed after eight.
On the east side I walked partly through clouds (very beautiful), had wonderful views and only met 3 people. Fantastic!
