Winzerer Monument

In the upper Marktstraße there is the statue of "The Golden Knight" Kaspar Winzerer III, who held the office of the caretaker of Tölz. The memorial commemorates the alleged capture of King Francis I of France by winegrowers and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/1871.

The knight and ducal steward Kaspar Winzerer III. Brantenberg and Retenfelden (1475-1542) dedicated the cast-iron monument of the same name in front of the nursing home (Marktstrasse 59) in 1887. In the parish church, a magnificent tombstone made of red marble behind the high altar commemorates this most important caretaker.Source and more info
