The Jiefang Bridge, literally translated as "Liberation Bridge," is a movable steel bridge unveiled on July 1 to celebrate the 98th anniversary of the Communist Party of China.
A historic landmark of Tianjin, the bridge was built in 1927 and recently renovated. It unfolds its steel structure only during important festivals and folds back to facilitate traffic during the day.
The bridge's unfolding movement, with its illuminated decorations, highlights the evening view of the Haihe River, the city's mother river.
