The Black Mountains are a mountain group in the Röhn that stretches between the Ulster and Felda rivers. They are a popular hiking destination because they offer a varied landscape with forests, meadows and rocks. There are several circular routes that lead through the Black Mountains, for example:- The circular route no. 1 is about 12 km long and starts at the parking lot on Schornheckenweg. It leads over the summit of Heidelstein, the highest mountain in the Röhn, and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.
- The circular route no. 2 is about 10 km long and starts at the parking lot at Himmeldunkberg. It leads through the Black Moor nature reserve, which is an important wetland with rare flora and fauna.
- The circular route no. 3 is about 8 km long and starts at the parking lot at the Kissinger Haus. It leads along the Red Moor, which is a moor lake with a wooden footbridge, and over the summit of Himmeldunkberg, which has a lookout tower.
