Easy to reach by bike via fixed paths. Shortly after the vantage point, however, the cycle path ends and you can continue on foot, for example in the direction of Hoogehern, if you wish.

Observation dune at the end of the sea dike. Great view of the natural landscape of Borkum.

        Steerenk-Klipp Dunes

The Steerenk-Klipp Dunes are probably the wildest natural landscapes on Borkum, not only because nature can grow undisturbed here, but also because of the military past. The best view of the extensive area is from the observation dune at the end of the sea dike. Located high up on a former bunker from the war, the view over Borkum and the surrounding area is unique. The bird island of Memmert and the neighboring islands of Juist and Norderney can also be seen in good, clear weather. The name Steerenk-Klipp comes from the fact that terns, which are called Steerenk in Low German, used to breed on the bunker.
