Tips

  • The Imsbach estate looks back on more than 700 years of history. Napoleon Bonaparte donated the estate in 1811 to the Colonel de Cavalerie Louis Charles Narcisse Lapointe, who is buried in the nearby chapel, as an award for his special services. After Colonel Lapointe's death in 1855, his grandson Louis Albert inherited the estate, which remained in the family until 1930. The structure of the courtyard and buildings that can be seen today goes back to this period of the Lapointe family.
In 1953 the Saarland became the owner. Imsbach became an independent prison and a few years later became the Tholey court prison. In 1983 the courtyard was declared an ensemble worthy of protection in terms of the Saarland monument protection and was extensively restored in the following years.
Today the Hofgut Imsbach is a landscape maintenance farm, surrounded by a landscape park and houses a modern hotel.

  • Hofgut Imsbach can look back on an eventful history. Already in 1310, the first buildings were built here, but it was not until the beginning of the 19th century that it flourished. At that time, Napoleon Bonaparte donated the estate to the French cavalry officer Lapointe for his actions during the French wars. Until 1930, the estate remained in family ownership and was further expanded. After that, it became the property of the Saarland and served as a prison for a while. It was not until the 1980s that the magnificent complex was listed as a historical monument and today there is a cozy restaurant and a hotel on the Hofgut.

The restaurant spoils you every day from 11.30 am to 10 pm with a variety of dishes.

  • Hofgut Imsbach - representative manor from the early 19th centuryThe Imsbach estate is a representative example of a manorial estate from the early 19th century. The Imsbach settlement was mentioned for the first time in 1310, the name "Hofgut Imsbach" for the first time in 1585. At the end of the 16th century, the Hofgut Imsbach became an independent Lorraine district. In the course of the French Revolution, the estate was confiscated as French national property. It owes its current appearance to the French equestrian colonel Charles Louis Narcisse Lapointe. Napoleon Bonaparte gave him the property and lands as a gift in 1812 because of his military service. Lapointe expanded the buildings and created a landscaped park. In 2006 the Naturland Foundation Saar took over the estate. Source: Text information board
