Haus Opherdicke is a culturally and historically significant property in Holzwickede, near Dortmund, and is one of the most beautiful architectural monuments in the region. Originally a noble estate, the foundations of which date back to the 12th century, the property acquired its current form in the second half of the 17th century. The house, surrounded by a moat, with its farm buildings and the surrounding park, offers an idyllic ambience.

The Haus Opherdicke Museum has made a name for itself particularly with the avant-garde of the interwar years and provides an important connection to contemporary art. In the past, important monographic work presentations and thematic group exhibitions have been shown here, including works by artists such as Conrad Felixmüller, Ulrich Jahr and Käthe Kollwitz. The museum is also dedicated to the “lost generation” of artists and current contemporary topics. In addition to the exhibition rooms, the museum offers a concert hall, a bistro with an outdoor terrace, a museum shop and a sculpture park, which opened in 2017 with works by the American-Italian sculptor Raimondo Puccinelli.

The museum and the bistro are open to visitors Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with an entrance fee of €4.00 for adults and €2.00 for concessions. The museum also offers an extensive supporting program with guided tours, workshops and special events for various target groups.

The sculptures are beautiful, but the garden itself is rather poor.
The building complex including the café is more worthwhile!
