In 1964 the people of Madrid had to submit to numerous restrictions and this was precisely the year in which the Pinilla dam was built, very close to Pinilla del Valle.
La Pinilla is one of the five reservoirs of the Lozoya River, along with El Atazar, Riosequillo, El Villar and Puentes Viejas.
