The West Falmouth Friends Cemetery is a Quaker Burial Ground that was established in 1685, making it Cape Cod’s oldest Quaker cemetery. Although no markers from that early period exist visible today, in 1900 69 graves were identified by simple stone markers in the area. The 1900 cemetery committee removed the stones and graded and fenced the area. They also installed a granite post marking the location of Falmouth’s first Quaker meetinghouse and commissioned boulder that still stands in the corner of the fenced off grassy area. This boulder reads: "Friends Cemetery 1685 - 69 graves." Please be respectful when visiting this historic and peaceful spot in the woods of West Falmouth.
