Fort Ancient is the remains of the prehistoric Native American settlers of this area. The Hopewell people lived here between 200 BC and 400 CE. At the site you can find burial mounds that were used as ancient sun calendars, helping to map the seasons. There are also more recent historical buildings, such as the Cross Keys Tavern which was in operation from around 1820 to the early 1900s.

Embark on a pleasant road cycling adventure along the Little Miami River Trail – Little Miami Scenic Trail loop from Soak City Station. This moderate 32.5-mile (52.2 km) route offers a smooth, paved surface, winding through picturesque countryside and dense woodlands. You'll enjoy consistent shade from the trees and frequent glimpses of the Little Miami River, a designated National Wild and Scenic River, where you might see paddlers enjoying the water.

With an elevation gain of 917 feet (279 metres) and an estimated duration of 2 hours and 46 minutes, this loop is accessible for many cyclists. The trail is well-maintained and generally flat, though the moderate rating suggests some gentle, sustained inclines. Parking is available at Soak City Station, and you'll find convenient amenities like shops and restaurants in nearby trail towns such as Loveland, making it easy to refuel or grab a coffee.

This section is part of the extensive Little Miami Scenic Trail, one of the longest paved trails in the United States, built along the historic right-of-way of the old Little Miami Railroad. It's a key component of larger networks like the Ohio-to-Erie Trail, offering a blend of natural beauty and historical context. The trail's accessibility and connection to community hubs make it a popular choice for a longer, scenic ride in Southwestern Ohio.
