The castle was destroyed in the 15th and 16th centuries. Later in 1753, the castle was rebuilt by Count de Lichtervelde and expanded with the still existing service buildings.
During the First World War, the castle was again heavily damaged during the retreat of the German army in 1918. A few years later, it was demolished with the outbuildings converted into homes.
