The Hospital Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Lichtenfels is a Gothic church whose origins date back to a foundation established in 1390. Severely damaged during the Thirty Years' War, it was rebuilt in 1653, with the nave being raised. The interior of the church is a flat-roofed hall building, with furnishings dating from the early 18th century. The altar area received a modern touch in the 1970s with a depiction of the Risen Christ by Hubert Weber. The church is located southwest of the old town on Bamberger Straße and today belongs to the parish of Our Lady.
