The villa was built for Antonio Manin from 1650 and completed under his grandsons Ludovico and Francesco; between 1710 and 1720 it was probably extended by Domenico Rossi, who was also commissioned by the Manin family to build the Santa Maria Assunta detta I Gesuiti and to remodel the Cathedral in Udine. Rossi called various artists, including Louis Dorigny from Paris. The chapel and a large exedra were built, and the villa was decorated with frescoes.
