The center of the village of Trieb was the large estate, which the Langheim monastery itself managed.
Since the late 17th century, it was managed by a monk, the so-called Hofmeister.
From 1727 onwards, Abbot Gallus Knauer had the Hofmeisterei replaced by a new building by the Coburg master builder Johann Georg Brückner, which the following Abbot Martin Wolf expanded in 1733.
In addition to a house, barns and stables, the complex also included a brewery. In the middle of the farm there was a Marian chapel that belonged to the Isling parish until 1869. After the Langheim Abbey was dissolved, the community bought part of the Hofmeisterei in 1824 and housed a school, priest's apartment and poorhouse there. Another part of the complex remained the estate. Since it largely included fields on the hill, it was called Berghof. In 1867, the Berghof was bought by John Herman Benecke (1819-1880) from Frankfurt am Main, whose descendants are still the owners today.
