The Piazza della Madonna is the famous main square of Loreto. Standing at the highest point of the city, at the end of Corso Boccalini, it is the artistic and religious center of Loreto. All important monuments can be seen here at a glance. In the center of the square stands the Fontana Maggiore, a Baroque work by Carlo Maderno and Giovanni Fontana, built between 1604 and 1614 and decorated with bronze sculptures by the brothers Pietro Paolo and Tarquinio Jacometti. In the east, the Basilica of the Holy House dominates. The north and west sides are enclosed by the Apostolic Palace, built in 1507-09 at the behest of Pope Julius II to a design by Donato Bramante.

A magnificent baroque square, that of the world famous Madonna. A marvel where the great Marian sanctuary shines with a facade designed by Bramante, topped by the imposing dome by Sangallo and its bell tower by Vanvitelli. It stands at the highest point in the city and can be reached at the end of the beautiful Corso. All the important monuments of the city face here, the north and west sides are closed by the imposing Apostolic Palace, which adorns it with splendor, again based on a project by Bramante. A treasury of works of art, it opens onto the main square of the small town where all its economy revolves, in the center of which stands the beautiful Baroque fountain by C. Maderno and G. Fontana from 1614, all adorned with sculptural statues of the 3 Jacometti Brothers.
