The church is a Gothic brick church with a stone base, the nave of which was built around 1450. The building was expanded with the wooden tower around 1770 and around 1870 with a new chancel and the transept in neo-Gothic style. The interior is also neo-Gothic.

The first church that stood in Parum was probably a wooden church built between 1170 and 1180. The church was first mentioned in documents in 1194.

In the Parum church there is an organ by Johann Heinrich Runge from 1877. This was restored in 2005.
