The fragments of the cross were temporarily kept in Vera Cruz because the cathedral of Evora was under construction at the time.
When bringing the fragments back to Evora, the horses refused to advance on the site of the current holy fountain.
Currently, the fragments of the cross are in Vera Cruz and Evora.
