Praça Rodrigues Lobo

Plaza Rodrigues Lobo is an emblematic space in the city of Leiria, this place, also known as Rossio, has been a point of development and animation in the historic center of the city.
Praça Rodrigues Lobo has a rich history. It was one of the first places where the population settled outside the castle walls to live near the river. Here you will find several monuments, such as the Casa da Câmara, the Cadeia, the Pelourinho and the Paço dos Tabeliães. Furthermore, in the current building of the Ateneu de Leiria, which used to be an 18th century palace of the Oriol Pena family, the Assembleia Leiriense functioned, of which Eça de Queirós was a member and where he used to read the newspapers.
