The Cerro Gordo volcano is located between the towns of Almagro and Granátula de Calatrava. It is the first visitable volcano in the Iberian Peninsula, since the Association for the Development of Campo de Calatrava has opened a scientific-didactic museum. All thanks to the fact that the mining company that owns the San Carlos Mine that subjected the volcano to intense extractive activity ceded 2,000 m2 to the Granátula de Calatrava town hall in order to create a museum in one of the open parts of the volcano.
