There are definitely more worth seeing in Tokyo. But if you ever want to see the emperor, it's a must. You can't visit the palace or inner gardens, only walk past them from the outside. The forecourt, however, would be a rather stone desert, were it not for the lovely trees along the moat. The contrast between modernity and history is interesting, as everywhere in Japan.
