The Calvary ChapelFriedrich Freiherr von Knöring had a "Salettchen (pavilion) with viewing tower" built around 1650 on a hill east of Stamsried.
Later it served as a shelter for shepherds.
The building was redesigned by the population in 1734 as a Calvary chapel. Shortly thereafter, the planting and the Way of the Cross were added.
In 1901 the provisional was demolished and in 1902 today's Calvary Chapel was built. The building underwent thorough renovation around 1980. The roof was newly covered, the tower was clad with shingles, the paintings were restored and the foundation walls were drained. Unfortunately, the precious statues of saints were stolen. The chapel is locked.
