In 1771, the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I ordered compulsory education. Every child from 5 to 12 years should go to school every day in winter and at least 1 to 2 times a week in summer. At that time, the teaching position in Blankenfelde was exercised by the "sacristan", who was also the organist, craftsman for the church and errand boy for the pastor. The Blankenfeld sextons from that time are all known. Around 1890 the situation in the school deteriorated dramatically. 130 children and more had to be taught by one teacher in a small room of about 30m2. In the morning there were lessons for the little ones and in the afternoon for the big ones. In 1893 the decision was finally made to build a new school in Blankenfelde. There was an exchange of land between the church and the city of Berlin. The sexton property became municipal and on November 1, 1896 the new school with 2 classrooms and a teacher's apartment was completed on the property of the old hunting lodge. The municipality of Blankenfelde had to pay a share of 9,000 marks for the construction of the school. With the opening of the school, a second teacher was finally approved. At that time there were several age groups in one class. Until 1897 there were 2 classes in Blankenfelde, after that there were 3 classes and in 1927 a 4th class was mentioned for the first time. It soon became clear that 2 rooms were not enough, so in 1926 the school received the first extension (left side) with 4 more classrooms. As early as 1932 - when workers' settlements were built on the outskirts of the city - the school had to be enlarged again. A barrack with 4 rooms was created - intended as a temporary solution. This remained and was only demolished in 1996 with the construction of the new day care center Schwalbennest. A second extension was added in 1934-1935 and the school has survived to this day.
