The guardaviñas are small stone huts used by farmers as shelter. As is the case, they are usually circular constructions that taper at the top using the "false dome" technique: raising successive rows of stones in increasingly narrow concentric circles.

This shack is located in Poyo Roldán (Alesón, La Rioja) in a small rest area next to the Camino de Santiago. Legend has it that the battle between Roland, nephew of Emperor Charlemagne, and the giant Ferragut, from Syria, took place here.
