A hórreo is a traditional structure used in the Asturias region, and also in some parts of Galicia, to store grain and other agricultural and livestock products. The thatched roof is an ancient technique that has been used for centuries throughout Europe to cover houses and farm buildings. Straw is an excellent thermal and acoustic insulator, and it is very resistant to fire and humidity if it is placed correctly.
