The 'Herdenkingsmonument 1944' in Kallenkote, located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, serves as a memorial for six citizens who actively or passively resisted the occupying forces during the Second World War. On October 13, 1944, they were executed by the occupying forces without any form of trial. The six victims were F.H. ten Berge, H.G. Bos, U. de Jong, P. Schipper, E. Verveer and J.A. deVries.
