After the reclamation edict of King Frederick II of Prussia, many new settlements were founded in East Friesland to secure space and livelihood for the growing population.
Under the Dutch occupation in 1810, the settlement "Tüssen Bargen" (Z Zwischenbergen) was founded between the Voßbarg colony and the Windbarg in Neudorf. It was popularly known as "the Dutch colony". In the long term, the High German name Zwischenbergen prevailed.
The initially predominantly operated agriculture with dairy cattle farming has now declined to a few remaining farms. Some handicraft businesses have settled here.
