The fort was built from 1902 and completed in 1907. Together with the Fort of Sint-Katelijne-Waver, this was the first armored fort of the Antwerp fortress belt. It is the first fort on the anti-tank ditch. During the two world wars, the fort played no important role and in 1947 the fort was demilitarized. Today you can, among other things, play paintball.

The Fort is located along the yellow connecting loop of the Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide routes. Not a real mtb environment but more suitable for gravel. Nice sight!
