A very beautiful old half-timbered house that once served as a town hall. It has beautiful carvings in the wooden beams and a great color scheme!

The Old Town Hall was built in 1562 and was the town hall of the city of Gifhorn until 1843/44.
The building is still characterized today by its remarkable carved ornaments. The mayor and council spared no money to decorate the administration building with magnificent wood carvings. The cantilevered thresholds are decorated with pearl bar ornamentation, the beam heads bear images, and the consoles have a variety of profiles. The wood fillers depict crafts of the Gifhorn guilds in carvings, as well as images of animals (mythical animals), tendrils and geometric decorative shapes as well as texts in Gothic letters and the year: MDLXII (1562).
