Although Ballaghmore is a private castle, you can spot it from the road looking south.

The castle is thought to date back to the late fifteenth century as a residence of the Fitzpatricks of Ossory. The castle was dimantled in 1647 after Cromwellian forces dismantled it during the occupation in Ireland. It was then restored in the 19th century with an impressive set of battlements! At five storeys high it is an impressive site.
