Although Kilcash Castle is not open to the public, you can get a good view of it from the roadside.
The castle was the great house of one of the branches of the Butlers family until well into the 18th century. Now in a state of disrepair, it makes an impressive sight in amongst the beautiful countryside.

Kilcash Castle is remembered in a song, 'Cill Chais'. Sung in Irish, it grieves for the death of Margaret Butler, Viscountess Iveagh, whose family lived here until the 19th century. There is also a ruined church and a graveyard in the area.
