Fort Dirks Admiraal is a former three-bastion fortress in Den Helder. The fortress was built by the French in 1812-1813 under the name of l'Ecluse. The fort was named Dirksen Admiraal on July 28, 1814. In the years 1880-1890 it was converted into a battery. Under German occupation, it was converted into an anti-aircraft battery. In 2014, the fort's bunkers were excavated, cleared of debris and a footpath created.
