Schwakenburg Castle existed from 1439 to 1538. The castle was destroyed by a major fire and was never rebuilt. The manor had various noble owners until it passed into the hands of the commoners in 1796. Today the actual castle square is to the west of the courtyard. Small remains of the leveled ditch can still be seen there.
