The vantage point allows a fantastic view towards Diamant Rock, also called HMS Diamant Rock, and the village of Le Diamand.
Sir Hood had fortified the rock beginning in 1803 to control the surrounding waters. Because it was armed with cannons and situated in the sea (typically for an island) and manned by sailors, he named the rock the unsinkable HMS Diamond Rock. Even today, passing English warships greet the rock with a salute.
