A cute little village, Elstead is set around a village green and on the River Wey. It is surrounded by commons and boasts two good pitstops, Cafe 172 and the Little Barn Cafe.
In June every year the village is taken over for one night for the Elstead Village Marathon. If you're nearby and into running as well as cycling its well worth entering, or just coming along to watch. Its far from a marathon distance, with either 5 or 8 km routes on offer which wind through the forests and an infamous river crossing right near the end.
