The flat areas of the Rocca di Manerba have undergone major interventions by man over the centuries. In the early 19th century, the vast plateau of Monte Sasso was reclaimed from the pre-existing marshy area thanks to the excavation of various drainage and water outlet channels. Among these artificial canals, the "Büs de la Paül" can be visited today, a cave that connects the plateau of the marsh with the Rocca di Manerba beach.
