Three ancient streets ran through the Hennefer area many centuries ago. They avoided the swampy, damp, and often flooded lowlands of the Sieg and its tributaries. If the terrain permitted, they ran over the heights. Coming from the Cologne-Bonn area, they originally ran past Hennef and continued into Siegerland or south towards Frankfurt. The "mouse path" ran on the right side of the victory. It came from the Cologne area, led past Siegburg through Kaldauen and Weingartsgasse. Behind Allner and Müschmühle he climbed the mountain. In Driesch near Bödingen, it merged with the Nutscheidstrasse, which was also called the Römerweg. The Römerweg was an ancient high-altitude trail. It extended the Bonner Straße near Hennef-Warth, led through the Sieg near Weldergoven (not a bridge but a ferry) and climbed to the heights of Altenbödingen near Lauthausen. From there continue via Stockum and Waldbröl to Siegerland. Nutscheidstrasse also avoided the muddy and swampy Sieg valley. The third important old street was Bonner Strasse. Already in Roman times it connected Bonn with the country on the right bank of the Rhine.
The start of this hike runs along the Römerweg, where this rest hut is also located.
