In the strict sense, the building is not a forester's lodge (house and office of a forester, a forester) but a hunting lodge (small house in the forest as accommodation for hunts) called the "Green Hunter".
In the neighborhood is "the island", a historic rampart dating from 1866 with a forest trail.
The "Green Hunter" is a former hunting lodge of the Hesse elector and now serves as a cozy refuge.
"The Island" is a historic rampart dating back to 1866 with a forest trail.
In the net one finds no background information to the "green hunter" and to the "island", therefore I copied here the text of the information board:
"Green Hunter" and "The Island", a hideout and a hunting lodge.
    "The Island" in Darlaten:
On 25.6.1866, shortly before the end of the Prussian-Austrian War, a scattered group of royal Prussian soldiers hid in this quickly excavated entrenchment. The group of 230 men and 27 wagons could no longer reach their destination, the main army near Göttingen, as the Prussians controlled the entire area in between.
When the Prussians finally won the war with the Battle of Langensalza and the Kingdom of Hanover became part of Prussia, the group surrendered on June 28, 1866. The defeat meant the end of the Kingdom of Hanover. The since then carefully preserved entrenchment consists of a circular ditch and a small masonry of field stones.

      "Green Hunter" in Darlaten:
It was built by the former forestry administration and served as a hunting lodge for the Hessian prince-electors, but the building was not given the name "Grüner Jäger" until the turn of the century by aristocratic participants in hunting festivals Lodgings for forestry workers and woodcarvers and also as dwellings from 1920 to 1975. Electricity and water supply were never available, indicating the circumstances in which the people lived in the house.
After moving out of the last tenants the building rotted more and more. In 1991, the home association Samtgemeinde Uchte, the patch Uchte and Darlater citizens a new "Green Hunter", slightly offset from the previous location, built. As a foundation, a base made of field stones was used.
Since the "Green Hunter" serves as a starting point for many cyclists, today it is used as an open refuge.

Wonderful resting place and shelter, you can even make a fire to dry your wet clothes.
