The highest stone fort in Ireland, Caherconree Fort is also incredibly old. The ancient text, 'Triads of Ireland', name it as one of the oldest buildings in the country. Considering the text was written in the 9th to 14th century, its history must reach back far into time. Legend has it, it was built in 500 to 100BC by the evil King of West Munster, Cú Roí Mac Daire.
