View of Riaño Reservoir and Mountains

Today, the calm waters of the swamp offer a bucolic picture that takes you to other latitudes, but the history of this place is much more bitter than it seems. You'll notice that the buildings in town have a similar look that doesn't denote too much age. This is because the old Riaño and eight other towns in the valley were completely demolished before being flooded by the waters of the swamp in a pharaonic project and carried out against the clock to avoid being stopped by the European environmental regulations that were about to enter in force. A project that was a true trauma for those who lived there and that still remains in their memory.

The mountains and the lake create a unique panorama. Definitely worth seeing.
