The monument-protected house no. 124 on the opposite side of the street has a curiosity that brings us to another important trade in old Gennebreck
draws attention: the band knitting workshop.

The two windows on the right side of the house, which are remarkably close together, let in plenty of daylight, which enabled the Prange family to work at the band chairs for as long as possible. Three ribbon looms were in operation in this room until the mid-1970s. Around 1850 there were around 200 of these ribbon chairs in Gennebreck residential buildings, where men, women and children "made all kinds of ribbons made of silk, wool and cotton for merchants in Schwelm, Barmen and Elberfeld for wages", as a file says.
